who we are
Like so many before us, Anton Maka Designsâ humble beginnings can be traced back to a garage in 2013. Founder Anton Maka simply likes creating cool stuff and dreaming up and putting together furniture was one of his creative outlets away from that day job as a magazine art director. Eventually, Anton would leave the rat race and turn his attention to constructing stylish, high-quality custom furniture full-time. From there, AMD quickly outgrew the garage requiring a move to a small shop that was also outgrown in short order. This meant another transplant was necessary to the current 5,000 square-foot space allowing for more tools and machines to fabricate fine custom furniture.
While much wood- and metalworking capabilities have been added from the garage days, what hasnât changed are the principles that AMD was founded on. Weâre here to create cool stuff. If you canât find a piece of furniture that speaks to you anywhere, weâll help design it and make it. Canât find a table sized to fit a particular space in your house? Give us dimensions and weâll get it done. Is there a particular look and color tone youâre searching for in a dining table that you havenât been able to find? Call us up because thatâs a problem we specialize in solving.
As a studio workshop, AMD has the ability to dream up and make whatever our clients desire. If youâre on the hunt for a high-volume production workshop that churns out hundreds of the same piece, thatâs not us. Weâre a smaller, nimble outfit. Our builders are bonafide artists that highly value design, but are also proud craftsmen who know that every AMD piece needs to have equal parts quality to withstand the test of time. Add in the best and most beautiful hardwood and metal materials we can get our hands on and the results will always be something truly special.

Anton, an art director, found his true calling in crafting unique furniture. In 2013, Anton Maka Designs was born, where he personally tailors each piece to clients' visions, leading a skilled team to bring them to life.

G-Man, with vast AMD studio shop experience, blends mural design skills with 30+ years of woodshop expertise. As shop manager, he's a designer, builder, mentor, and inspiration to the AMD crew.

ASSISTANT SHOP MANAGER
As professional body builder, picking stuff up and putting them down is something that Renato excels at here at AMD. And weâre thankful for that because many of the slabs we have come through the shop are gigantic and heavy! But thatâs just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to everything Renato does around these parts. Heâs a key cog in the shop from fabricating, finishing, keeping everything in order to helping to make sure projects are on schedule, while also serving as our lead delivery coordinator and installer. The man is our jack of all trades.
